What is Air Testing?

Buildings account for a staggering 46% of this country’s CO2 emissions.

Air leakage through cracks, gaps and openings in the external envelope of a dwelling is thought to have a major affect on its energy requirements. There is also evidence to show that insulation can lose up to 70% of its efficiency if the area where it is located is leaky.

Air testing dwellings after construction is a way of ensuring that they have been built in such a way to reduce these leaks. The building regulations now require new dwellings to comply with a maximum air leakage rate. This rate must be measured by BINDT registered persons such as Air Testing South West.
