How is a Domestic Air Pressure Test Carried Out?

A pressure differential is created using our high precision fan.

ImageAir is extracted from the building, pressure readings are taken and used to measure the amount of air that leaks into building per hour.

The internal area of the walls, roof and floor of the dwelling is calculated.

ImageThis is then used to find the air permeability in m3 per hour per m2 of building area. The limit set by the regulations should be easily achievable for most modern buildings and represents an air change rate of about 10 per hour.

In the event of a test failure we will use approved techniques to find the main sources of the failure and give advice on how they can be remedied before a retest.

ImageOnce a property has passed the test a full report will be issued as well as a pass certificate which should be presented to building control.
